Purple
For the 3rd Annual Knitting & Crochet Blog week, I wrote this post which started out with the color purple. That color theme seems to be continuing around here …
… There were lovely purple lilacs and purple creeping phlox blooming in the garden:
… This week I finished this Lacy Shells & Bobbles Hat in purple:
… I crocheted a ripple baby blanket in soft cotton chenille, alternating two rows each of light purple (the actual color name is Soft Orchid) and off-white. Similar to the green/white ripple afghan finished last week, this blanket is worked in the same standard ripple pattern of sc in 5 sts, sk 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, 3 sc in next st, repeat every row, maintaining 1 extra st each side for straight edge. For this one I started with a shorter chain (ch 118) and used a size H hook with the NuMei Cotton Chenille, working in the back loops only on each row. It should be even softer and fluffier after washing and drying:
… A sprained ankle led to some very colorful purple toes! (but thankfully they finally returned to their normal peachy-pink hue.)
… Baked a batch of lemon-blueberry muffins. The blueberries were bubbling over with purple juice when I took them out of the oven and set them on cooling racks. Colorful and delicious!
Purple is a royal color and oft quoted in the saying “When I am old, I shall wear purple.” And if you’re a Colorado Rockies fan, whether young, old, or in-between, you wear purple on Purple Mondays!
Enjoy your summer with some time spent knitting & crocheting (check out DBKN’s Ravelry page for more purple project ideas.) Stitch with a purple passion!

I am a huge fan of purple. It’s been a bit of a thing for me since me Donny Osmond days as a kid! (you won’t get this if you’re too young!) Your post made me smile thinking about your purple day! I like the hat a lot – I just bookmarked the pattern – thanks for sharing. Shells and bobbles are two of my favorite stitches! Have a great weekend!

There is definitely a purple bug going around in my neck of the woods. I’m glad we aren’t the only ones.
I rather enjoy it!

Love the color purple. We had such lovely lilac this year. They just don’t last long enough. Now we have the deep purple petunias or “bubble-gum” flowers as my daughter called them as a child, because of the fragrance. And the pansy, don’t for get that beautiful little one. I’ve been crocheting pansy lately, and all have the great shades of purple in them.
